Ning Teen Book Discussion Forums

Hello, again -

Several new demonstration online social networks have been created for the Young Adult Library Services Association, where any teens who are interested in discussing the current nominated Quick Picks, Popular Paperback and Best Books for Young Adults titles can participate! (These sites are not official sites of the American Library Association, but give you a chance to be heard)

You can now give your opinions on books being nominated for the American Library Association Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers, Best Books and Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults Lists. You can discuss your opinions in forums set up for each nominated book, or even post videos of yourselves discussing the nominated books. Since Ning is a social networking tool, you can also create your own pages and form groups.

Here are the addresses:

Quick Picks discussion is located at http://qpteendiscussion.ning.com/
The Quick Picks committee (part of ALA's YALSA division) creates lists of new books for teens who don't like to read.

Best Books discussion is located at http://bbyateendiscussion.ning.com/
The BBYA committee (part of ALA's YALSA division) is responsible for creating a list of great new books for teens.

Popular Paperbacks discussion is located at http://popularpaperbacks.ning.com/
The PPYA committee is responsible for creating paperback theme lists for teens

Note: All reader responses will be tallied for inclusion in the Knowville.org Read a Billion books initiative

We're Moving!!!

Hi -

I'm sure you have all seen that the library has been undergoing renovations. The reference department already has new carpeting and furniture, and the audio/visual materials area is in process. The old computer lab has closed, and the new computers on the main floor are now ready and available for use. (Remember to bring your valid library card with you to log on!)

Well, today the Young Adult Department starting moving - by Monday afternoon, we will be completely relocated to meeting room A, downstairs. We will be located there for the next several weeks.

Come visit us soon!
